Private chef goes shopping – Santa Eulalia, Ibiza

Being a private chef is not only about the perfect cooking. It’s also about shopping, sourcing local foods, getting to know local food suppliers.

Local shopping in Ibiza isn’t really a difficult task. Despite the great amount of supermarkets, we can still find good local markets, amazing little veg shops and lots of bio & organic stores.



My favourite local market is Es Mercat in Santa Eulalia (established in 1985). It’s not a huge market, but believe me – you can buy here all you need for a nice dinner or for your weekly shopping. You can find there local butchers, bakers, fishmongers, and of course – fruit and veggies stands. Also you can fix your shoes here at the local cobbler, buy flowers or essential hardware. Here I do the shopping for all my clients and also for my family. And – after the shopping – you can chill out there and have a coffee or beer at one of the two market’s coffee shops.

My huge recommendation goes to Carniceria Pepita y Emilio butchery – really great range of products and super quality.

Also if you looking for the fresh, local veg & fruits – you have to check out Tanifruit  – also on Es Mercat.

So if you live here or if you are just on holidays – don’t go to supermarkets unless you have to. They are all the same, wherever you go! Shop local instead.
